100% European Manufacturing: Impact, Traceability, Sustainability

100% European manufacturing is not a secondary argument at AYAQ: it is a core choice that determines technical performance, durability, environmental impact, and traceability of each garment. Producing in Italy, France, Germany, and Portugal allows full control over every step, from raw materials to the most demanding finishes: waterproof seams, taping, membrane integration, multi-material assemblies, precise cuts, and reliable construction.

1. A short supply chain ensuring performance

By concentrating production in Europe, AYAQ reduces distances between design, fabric suppliers, factories, and testing labs. This technical proximity enables:

  • rapid iterations between design and prototypes,
  • frequent quality checks on fabrics, membranes, and assemblies,
  • complete consistency between outer materials, Sympatex membrane, and internal structures,
  • guaranteed real performance for every production batch.

This control is especially critical for the SKORA hardshells (men / women), LONAK-XT (men / women), LONAK (men / women) and BATURA, where assembly precision dictates waterproofing (52,000 Schmerbers) and breathability (RET < 12).

2. Full transparency and traceability

Europe has strict regulations covering chemical processes, water management, working conditions, and material traceability. This allows AYAQ to offer complete transparency:

  • RWS-certified merino wool from free-range farms, knitted in Italy,
  • technical recycled materials sourced from weavers in Italy, France, Germany, and Portugal,
  • Sympatex membrane designed in Germany, recyclable and PFC-free,
  • garment assembly carried out in Portugal with expertise in waterproof seams.

Each component can be identified, inspected, and improved, ensuring consistent quality across batches.

3. Significantly reduced environmental impact

Producing in Europe drastically cuts carbon footprint linked to transport. Fabrics don’t circle the globe before assembly: they move directly from Italy, France, or Germany to Portugal, then straight to European warehouses.

This approach complements:

  • the use of technical recycled materials,
  • complete absence of PFCs in membranes and water repellents,
  • recyclability of the Sympatex membrane,
  • design of versatile garments that limit overconsumption.

The environmental impact is therefore considered holistically.

4. Genuine durability from European expertise

Jacket and pant performance depends as much on materials as on assembly quality. Partner factories in Portugal master:

  • high-precision waterproof seams,
  • complex taping on hardshells,
  • multi-panel construction for technical pants,
  • ergonomic cuts optimized for movement.

This expertise ensures real durability: AYAQ garments maintain their performance over multiple seasons, even when used for ski touring, mountaineering, trail running, or demanding hiking.

5. Alignment with AYAQ’s philosophy

Producing 100% in Europe is not a luxury but a necessity to meet the brand’s ambition. It enables:

  • designing truly reliable technical pieces,
  • maintaining consistent quality standards across production,
  • reducing overall environmental impact,
  • guaranteeing full and honest traceability,
  • supporting textile expertise that meets modern outdoor demands.<
