Care guide

Proper care of your AYAQ technical clothing is essential to preserve its performance, comfort and longevity. Our products are built to last, but the right care helps maintain their effectiveness for years to come.

1. Hardshells – waterproof jackets and trousers

Washing:
• Machine wash at a maximum of 30°C, inside out with zips closed
• Do not overload the machine
• Use a standard detergent, without fabric softener or bleach
• Select a thorough rinse to remove all detergent residue

Drying:
• Drying is essential to reactivate the durable water-repellent (DWR) treatment
• Air dry inside out
• Then finish in a tumble-dryer on the synthetics programme for a maximum of 15 minutes

2. Softshells and synthetic technical clothing

Washing:
• Machine wash at 30°C on a delicate cycle
• Wash inside out with zips and hook-and-loop fasteners closed
• Do not overload the machine
• Use a mild detergent designed for technical fabrics, without fabric softener or bleach

Drying:
• Air dry away from direct heat sources
• A short cycle in a tumble-dryer on low heat (10 minutes maximum) helps reactivate the water-repellent treatment

3. Merino wool clothing

Washing:
• For the first 5 washes, opt for a cold wash
• After that, use a delicate cycle at a maximum of 30°C
• Wash inside out with a wool detergent
• Do not overload the machine
• Avoid spin cycles and do not wring out the garment

Drying:
• Air dry flat or on a hanger
• Do not use a tumble-dryer, as heat damages the natural fibres of merino wool

4. Restoring water repellency

Over time and with washing, the durable water-repellent (DWR) treatment can wear off. It can be reactivated or renewed using a spray or a specialist “DWR-safe” wash-in treatment. We recommend PFC-free products, which are kinder to the environment.

5. Storage

Store your clothing in a dry place, away from light and moisture. Avoid compressing garments for long periods, particularly insulated jackets, to preserve their loft and thermal performance.

6. Repair and durability
