Maintenance tips

Properly maintaining your AYAQ technical garments is essential to preserve their performance, comfort, and longevity. Our products are designed to last, but appropriate care can extend their effectiveness over the years.

1. Hard Shells – waterproof jackets and pants

Washing:
• Machine wash at a maximum of 30°C, inside out and with zippers closed
• Do not overload the machine
• Use regular detergent, without fabric softener or bleach
• Select an extensive rinse to thoroughly remove detergent residues

Drying:
• Drying is crucial to reactivate the water-repellent treatment (DWR)
• Air dry inside out
• Then finish with a tumble dry on synthetic program, maximum 15 minutes

2. Softshells and synthetic technical garments

Washing:
• Machine wash at 30°C, delicate cycle
• Wash inside out, zippers and velcros closed
• Do not overload the machine
• Use a mild detergent specially designed for technical textiles, without fabric softener or bleach

Drying:
• Air dry, away from direct heat sources
• A tumble dry at low temperature (maximum 10 minutes) can reactivate the water-repellent treatment

3. Merino wool garments

Washing:
• For the first 5 washes, prefer cold washing
• Afterwards, delicate program at a maximum of 30°C
• Wash inside out with a special wool detergent
• Do not overload the machine
• Avoid machine spinning and do not wring the garment to drain it

Drying:
• Air dry, flat or on a hanger
• Do not use a tumble dryer, as heat damages the natural fibers of merino wool

4. Re-waterproofing

Over time and washes, the water-repellent treatment (DWR) may diminish. It can be reactivated or renewed using a spray or a specific "DWR safe" wash. We recommend products without PFCs, which are more environmentally friendly.

5. Storage

Store your garments in a dry place, away from light and moisture. Avoid compressing them for long periods, especially for insulated jackets, to preserve their loft and thermal efficiency.

6. Repair and durability
