The origin of AYAQ traces back to Vincent Defrasne, the first French Olympic medalist in Biathlon, born in the Jura mountains.
Vincent Defrasne built the brand on his athletic rigor and deep knowledge of the mountains, with a strong desire to reshuffle the deck.

Extreme explorer Mike Horn joined AYAQ in 2025 to drive product innovation and position AYAQ as the brand for explorers. His mission: to imagine, test, push boundaries, and continuously improve.
Fearless of the impossible, Mike Horn has solo navigated the Amazon, circumnavigated the globe along the equator, reached the North Pole in winter, crossed both poles during Pole2Pole, and traversed Antarctica alone. Each expedition demonstrates exceptional endurance and a deep respect for nature — a vision he now brings to AYAQ.
