A legend of extreme exploration

For over 25 years, Mike Horn has travelled across the planet's most hostile terrain on extraordinary expeditions, without motorised transport and often entirely self-supported.

1997 – Descent of the Amazon River
Alone, Mike Horn travels more than 7,000 kilometres from Peru to the Atlantic, swimming and paddling through dense forests, rapids and wildlife.

1999 – Latitude Zero: around the world along the equator
Without ever using motorised transport, he circumnavigates the globe along the imaginary line of the equator. More than 40,000 kilometres covered by sail, on foot, by bike and by canoe.

2006 – Arctic polar night expedition
The first man to reach the North Pole solo in winter, in total darkness and temperatures below –60 °C. An unparalleled feat of endurance, on skis and hauling his equipment.

2016 – Pole2Pole Expedition
A journey around the world via both poles, combining sailing, trekking and skiing. The aim: to bear witness to the visible effects of climate change in extreme environments.

2017 – Antarctic crossing
In 57 days, Mike Horn crosses more than 5,100 kilometres of Antarctica alone, with only his skis and a sled. An exceptional feat of physical and mental endurance.

An unwavering commitment to the environment

Throughout his expeditions, Mike Horn has witnessed first-hand the ecological upheaval affecting oceans, ice and forests. Aware of the climate emergency, he has spent years raising awareness among younger generations and promoting a more responsible relationship with nature.

His "What's Left" project embodies this commitment: a series of educational expeditions to explore and document the world's most fragile regions, with the aim of inspiring tangible action to protect them.
