THE BIATHLON HERITAGE

VINCENT DEFRASNE, OUTDOOR ATHLETE, AYAQ FOUNDER

Vincent Defrasne grew up in the Jura mountains. In France’s coldest region, he learned early to read snow, wind, and the silence of high-altitude forests. Skiing here is not a show sport but a way of life, a school of patience and endurance.

A biathlete, he became Olympic champion in 2006. His career is marked by World Cup podiums and international medals. Biathlon, a discipline of precision and control, taught him to combine extreme effort with clear focus.

Beyond results, Vincent Defrasne aims to inspire a new vision of the mountains: commitment without excess, respect for the elements, and a passion for measured effort and self-improvement. Every race is as much a challenge against oneself as against the terrain.

Victories are never flashy; they are carefully earned, measured, wrested from cold and silence.

After his athletic career, he remains deeply connected to the landscapes that shaped him. Teaching, mentoring, and advocating responsible outdoor practice have become natural extensions of his journey.

It is this intimate mountain experience, nurtured from childhood and tested at the highest level, that he now brings to AYAQ.

"Applying the rigor and precision taught by elite sports to a collection that takes technical performance further, designed for those who want to go anywhere, in any weather, push their limits, and fully reconnect with nature"

RE-EQUIPPING ATHLETES FOR THE WILDERNESS

"Before aiming for and winning medals, I was first a kid from the Jura mountains, a child of the snow, passionate about nature, mountains, and skiing.

By creating AYAQ, I wanted to offer an ultra-technical range of apparel for outdoor athletes—true explorers—focused on skiing and mountain sports, crafted with expertise from European workshops.

The AYAQ world is high-performance, committed, and eco-designed."
