1. Washing: preserve membrane performance
AYAQ’s hydrophilic membrane doesn’t clog like microporous membranes but must be washed correctly to maintain breathability (RET < 12) and performance during activity.
- Machine wash at max 30°C.
- Wash inside out with zippers closed.
- Do not overload the machine; the jacket should move freely.
- Use a standard liquid detergent without fabric softener or bleach.
- Choose a thorough rinse to remove all detergent residues.
Fabric softener blocks water vapor diffusion through the membrane and must be avoided.
2. Drying: reactivate water repellency
The membrane ensures waterproofness, but surface water repellency enhances comfort by preventing outer fabric saturation.
- Air dry the jacket inside out.
- Then tumble dry for up to 15 minutes on synthetic setting, still inside out, to reactivate the water-repellent finish.
Avoid direct heat sources (radiators, stoves) that can damage external finishes.
