1. Washing: Preserve membrane performance
AYAQ’s hydrophilic membrane does not clog like microporous membranes but must be washed correctly to maintain breathability (RET < 12) and performance during activity.
- Machine wash max 30°C.
- Wash inside out with zippers closed.
- Do not overload the machine; the jacket must move freely.
- Use a standard liquid detergent without fabric softener or bleach.
- Choose a thorough rinse to remove all detergent residues.
Fabric softeners block water vapor diffusion through the membrane and must be avoided.
2. Drying: Reactivate water repellency
The membrane ensures waterproofness, but surface water repellency enhances comfort by preventing outer fabric saturation.
- Air dry inside out.
- Then tumble dry up to 15 minutes on synthetic setting, still inside out, to reactivate water repellency.
Avoid direct heat sources (radiators, stoves) which can damage external finishes.
3. Repairs: Extend your hardshell’s lifespan
AYAQ hardshells use durable materials and precise construction, but outdoor use can cause abrasion, snags, or mechanical stress. Instead of replacing, we prioritize repair.
AYAQ operates a repair workshop in France, near the Alps, capable of servicing all hardshells:
- zip repair or replacement,
- restoring tapings and seams,
- repairing damaged panels,
- localized reinforcements compatible with the membrane.
